THE SCENE

San Francisco and New York City in the 90s–both very edgy, sex-positive and gritty places where the world of adult entertainment thrives. It’s a post-hippie vibe mixed with late 80s punk. That mix is clearly visible at the public access studio of MVTV where members of the community volunteer, show their true colors, and the guests are even more outrageous.

In the mid-90s NYC, Madeleine inhabits a tiny apartment in the West Village where the couch is the bed and she’s always tripping over something. The city is dirty, loud and hectic. Eventually, Madeleine runs her business operations from a cheap office on W. 14th street above a Mexican restaurant on a shared hallway with a rap music studio and drug dealers. It's a pretty unsavory set-up, but the price is right.

This is also a time where tech advancements are coming fast and furious and screen interfaces are beginning to play a bigger part in our lives. Screens and computers will also play an important role in the series, reminding us of the primal urge to connect and how machinery makes and breaks those vital connections.
